The firm
Built to own, to back, and to advise — for the long arc.
Moorgate Corporation is a private holdings and advisory firm in the City of London. We were founded on a simple conviction: that capital does its best work when it is patient, principal, and aligned with the people who build and run the business.
Our story
A holding company in the merchant tradition of the City.
The name borrows from Moorgate, the old opening in the London Wall — a landmark of the City's merchant heritage, where capital and enterprise were stewarded across generations rather than traded by the quarter. That tradition is the firm's compass.
Moorgate Corporation was formed to do something the modern market makes unusually difficult: to hold. In a landscape of funds with fixed lifespans and investors structurally pushed toward exit, we built a company that acquires businesses to keep, backs founders without a countdown, and advises principals as if their decisions were our own — because, very often, they are.
We are principal investors first. That shapes everything that follows: the conversations we'll take, the structures we'll write, the time we'll spend, and the plainness of the answers we give. We hold a small number of companies and work with a small number of principals, deliberately, so that each gets the attention ownership demands.
Our reach extends beyond London through the operating companies we own — including European Technical, the group's UAE operating company for home and technical services, which keeps our advice grounded in the reality of running a real business.
What we hold to
Five principles, in order
They are not slogans. They are the filters we run every opportunity, and every conversation, through.
I
Patience
We measure in years and decades. A business compounds when it is given time, and we have the capital and the temperament to give it.
II
Alignment
Our own money goes in alongside yours. When the people advising you also own what you own, the counsel sharpens considerably.
III
Stewardship
We are custodians, not extractors. The businesses we hold are handed to us in trust; we leave them stronger than we found them.
IV
Discretion
We work quietly and with a small number of principals at a time. Confidentiality is not a courtesy; it is the price of admission.
V
Discipline
We underwrite rigorously and say no often. A small number of well-chosen commitments beats a large book of average ones.
— Slogan
Patient capital.
Principled counsel.
Our approach
Principal capital, operator judgement, a long horizon.
Three things make Moorgate different from the capital a founder or principal can usually access — and they compound together.
- Capital from the balance sheet. We invest our own. There's no fund clock, no LP base, and no deployment deadline — so we move on conviction and hold to conviction.
- Literacy from operating. We don't only invest; we run companies. That operator perspective shows up in every piece of advice and every board conversation.
- A horizon measured in decades. We hold what we buy, back what we believe, and let time do its work. The companies we steward aren't staged for a sale.
Who you'd work with
A small firm, structured for accountability
Moorgate is intentionally compact. Decisions sit with the people you speak to, and ownership of each relationship is direct.
The Investment Committee
Final authority on every commitment. Because we invest our own balance sheet, the people who say yes are the people whose capital is at risk.
Operating Partners
Senior operators embedded with the companies we hold — bringing finance, governance, talent, and systems so management can focus on the business.
Advisory Council
Experienced principals and sector operators we draw on for diligence and counsel — extending the firm's judgement without enlarging its bureaucracy.
European Technical — our UAE operating company
European Technical is a licensed home-maintenance and technical-services company operating in the UAE, and a working example of the kind of business Moorgate owns and stewards. It keeps the firm's investment and advisory work grounded in the day-to-day reality of running an operating company — customers, crews, and cash flow.
